Easy Poached Pear Dessert, also known as Rice Condé, or Pear Condé. A basic buy tin of rice pudding saves time and money, though you could make your own rice pudding if you’ve got plenty of time on your hands and want to make this poached pear dessert taste extra special.
This recipe can also be varied to make Apricot Condé or Peach Condé, and you can use fresh, bottled or tinned fruit depending on what you have available.
There are two ways to make the sauce – the traditional way is to make a sauce with strawberry or raspberry jam and thicken it with gelatine, or you can just use a sachet of quick gel from the supermarket.
Often the juiciest pears look nothing special on the outside,
but when they’re peeled and lightly poached they’re completely transformed.
Served on a bed of rice pudding and topped with a fruity gel.
Simple, quick and comforting dessert – top with flaked almonds if you’ve got some in the cupboard.
And oh, it’s great eaten with a chocolate spoon!
