Well just before Winter appears, I’ve finally finished the new book ‘The Sensitive Human’. It was a surprising journey over the last few months, which involved spending long hours many a day researching and writing. It feels strange it’s finally away, and will be published in the next few weeks. The title was inspired by Shelley’s poem ‘The Sensitive Plant’.
It carries an important message, which I hope will be heard by government and decision makers who have so much power to affect our daily lives and well-being. The paperback book is available on all Amazon sites and will also be published as an e-book on Amazon in mid/late November 2017..

My Titanic book – Dreams and Recipes 1904 – 1914
This Titanic era novella is based on several true stories, told in the genre of faction. The book is narrated through a series of letters between two teenage girls, Sophia in Cavan and Eliza in Belfast. The book portrays pertinent issues at the time and brings the reader back to Belfast in a time when shipbuilding was at its height. Old stories from the life of Thomas Andrews, recipes from my own handwritten family recipe books and Lady Londonderry’s fundraising cookbook for Queen’s University, and inspirational quotes and sayings are interspersed with some wry observations on some of the more questionable traits of human nature that are still around in society today. I have converted all the recipes into US cups and also metric kilos and grams, alongside Imperial pounds and ounces, so they can be enjoyed by everyone around the world today.
Dreams & Recipes 1904 – 1914 won me the accolade of Best Food Writer for Northern Ireland 2014 and was shortlisted for Best Food Writing in the World in the Gourmand Best in the World Cookbook, Drinks Book and World Food TV Awards in Yantai, China, in June 2015.
The book has since been revised and rewritten several times, and my latest reworking of the book will be published as an e-book on Amazon in mid-late November 2017.
